A Potential Deal With North Korea

Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony.

If that is so it may be some time before there is any happiness in the situation involving North Korea’s persuit of nuclear weapons. The six party talks in Beijing seemed to have reached an agreement that may stop the enrichment of Plutonium should all parties agree as expected. According to the proposed agreement in exchange for energy aid North Korea will shut down it’s nuclear facilities. Forgive me, good reader, if I am a might skeptical. If my memory serves me correctly a similar agreement was reached quite some time ago when Bill Clinton was the President of the United States. However, the North Koreans broke their word and progressed with the nuclear program anyway. It would be lovely if the proposed deal were to go through and be upheld. However, I think rather sadly that as soon as the North Koreans need something in terms of food or some other aid, they shall start up the nuclear program again and use it as blackmail as they have been doing. It would be wonderful if they thought, said and did what it is that may be agreed to and it would be better than another war. In truth there are too many of them as it is right now without adding another front and potentially engaging in a third world war.
