Last year Australia’s top Islamic cleric, Sheik Taj Aldin Al-Hilali insulted many Australians and people around the world by declaring that scantily clad Australian women should be raped and insulting the country’s past as a penal colony. Today Tom Zreika, the president of the Lebanese Muslim Assosciation encouraged Imams to volunteer to be life guards and firefighters, occupations that are heavily respected in Australia, to encourage goodwill and improve the image of the Muslim population. He also made reference to the fact that if Imams could not comply with Australian laws they should leave. I’ve chosen the above quote because it has a lot to do with the way people think influencing the way they behave and what they become. If people think very deep and positive thoughts they will become a force for good and a point of light like Gandhi was.
